Students starting studies this coming term are being offered lifeline funding by a Yelverton group.
Yelverton Rotary Club, a group of volunteers supporting the villages in the Yelverton area, is asking for applications from students who meet certain criteria.
A club spokesman said: “Students starting university and qualifying for the maximum means-tested student maintenance loan who live in Yelverton area villages, then we could help.
“We have limited funds for a hall of residence starter pack, a rail card or a small grant for kitchen stores, for example.”

Qualifying villages include Yelverton, Bere Alston, Bere Ferrers, Buckland Monachorum, Clearbrook, Crapstone, Dousland, Grenofen, Hexworthy, Horrabridge, Mary Tavy, Meavy, Peter Tavy, Postbridge, Princetown, Sampford Spiney and Walkhampton.
