Meeting your soulmate can be tricky these days, with many avoiding internet dating for various reasons, but imagine how romantic it could be to meet your perfect partner while on a walk.

Well, this August Bank Holiday Monday (August 31), there’s an “opportunity for like-minded singles to make face-to-face connections” while strolling about Yelverton for an hour.

The event is described as “very relaxed” with “no expectations, no commitment and no pressure”.

It’s a 4pm meet up on the day at Burrator Reservoir, Yelverton. The ‘what three words’ for the exact location are: ‘heartburn.decoding.game’ – and previous events have gained a lot of interest.

A previous Stroll Dating event on August 16 was really popular, and Helen Moore, a local outdoors South West influencer, went along. She said: “I’d definitely recommend giving it a go if you’re looking to meet new people”.

Helen said it was a “relaxed, friendly environment” and a good way to “escape the dating apps for a while”.

She added: “What if finding someone started with a walk instead of a swipe? I think I may have found the best alternative to dating apps. I joined a Stroll Dating walk on Dartmoor (on August 16) – a relaxed, no-pressure way to meet new people face-to-face while enjoying the outdoors.

“What really made the day special was hearing why Dan (the organiser of the event) started Stroll Dating. He created it in memory of his cousin, who met her partner through a walking group. It felt like a lovely way to honour her and continue bringing people together.

“We explored Yelverton Rock, had some great conversations, and finished at one of the quirkiest cafés I’ve ever visited, half café, half war museum – and yes, I did meet a guy!”

The Stroll Dating walk is free to attend, participants must be 18 or over, and well-behaved dogs are also welcome.
