Wheal Betsy Ladies were entertained by two local BBC TV weather presenters at their September meeting.

The Mary Tavy social group hosted Bee Tucker and Dan Downs who were funny and down-to-earth, the group reported.

“Bee is a face known on screen and on radio as one of our weather presenters,” said Bev Ross, of Wheal Betsy Ladies.

“Dan spends much of his time these days on the production side, although he still presents the weather on occasions. He is also a recognisable face at Plymouth’s Theatre Royal where he turns his hand to many jobs. Their stories about ‘live’ presenting, with the problems they sometimes face – talking earpieces, countdowns, green screens, out of studio forecasts ans meeting the public– were laugh out loud moments.”

She added that everyone who attended - which included 32 visitors – was “royally entertained”.
