A mature tree in Tavistock is set to be removed as it’s a ‘potential safety hazard’ – and a tree works application has been submitted by a resident.

A proposal application to remove a cherry tree on Alder Road was submitted to West Devon Council on September 14, detailing works to a tree preservation order (TPO) tree.

The proposal states: “Remove tree due to showing signs of deterioration and decay is setting in on many branches and some dead wood is present. Tree is located directly next to the pavement and poses a potential safety hazard to pedestrians and road users if branches were to fall, especially in winter.”
