Tavistock Musical Theatre Company (TMTC) will be kicking off this year’s Christmas festivities in the town next month when it stages the feel-good show Elf The Musical in Tavistock Town Hall.

Tickets are now on sale for the show which is based on the well-loved film Elf. Rehearsals for this community production — which opens on Wednesday November 23 until Sunday November 27 — are in full swing and with a cast of almost 40 people this sparkly, jolly, twinkly, jingley show is guaranteed to put a smile on the faces of young and old alike.

Even Santa will be taking time out from his busy schedule to take part, along with some of his elves, as they help to tell the story of Buddy and his journey to discover his true identity.

With an awesome number of award-winning productions behind them, the company is thrilled to be able to perform such a cheerful show after Covid-19 meant they have not been able to stage a production since the near sell-out production of The Sound of Music in 2019.

Taking the lead role of Buddy is Ryan Procter and Anna Dunsford as Jovie. Anna took the lead role of Maria in the company’s production of The Sound of Music and Ryan played Lun Ta in the 2018 production of the King and I and has recently play Pinocchio in Shrek the Musical for Plymouth Theatre Company.

Director Julian Bennett said that the cast is working hard to put on a first-class show. He said: ‘It’s going to be fantastic! It’s one of our most ambitious productions yet and we’ll be bringing sackfuls of Christmas cheer just as the festive season begins.’

The show will open on the evening of Wednesday November 23 with further evening performances on Thursday November 24, Friday November 25 (a month before the big day!) and Saturday, November 26. Matinee performances are on Saturday November 26 and Sunday November 27.

There will also be a chance for children to meet Father Christmas and Buddy before the show with special VIP tickets.
