HOMES in a pollution hotspot beside the A390 are to be offered air purification pumps to clean up the air their occupants breathe.
Cornwall councillor Dorothy Kirk has received confirmation from Cornwall Council that the worst affected properties in Gunnislake will be offered air purification pumps. Work will start in the spring to identify the properties most badly affected by pollutants from the heavy stop-start traffic through the village and householders will then be approached.
Meanwhile Cornwall Council Cabinet portfolio holder for transport Cllr Philip Desmonde is to visit the village in February to see the traffic problems first-hand. Cllr Kirk said: ‘It is great to have at long last some recognition of the problem and some attempt to help solve it because we don’t want our children to grow up with asthma.’
