Local artists are being warmly invited to submit work for a weekend exhibition at a local village hall.

The show is at Brentor Village Hall over the weekend of September 26 and 27, with artists invited to exhibit and sell works of art inspired by St Michael’s Church - the hilltop church at Brentor - and the surrounding countryside.

Entry to the exhibition is free and it will be open from 10am to 4.30pm each day.

It is being organised by the Friends of St Michaels for the second year running, following a successful inaugural show last year. Commission from sales at 20 per cent will go to the organisation for the upkeep of the church.

The aim, along with raising funds, is to give artists the chance to exhibit their work affordably while also paying tribute to the wonderful countryside surrounding Brentor.

Art pieces will be accepted at the hall on Friday, September 25 between 3pm and 6pm when all the details will be logged and each piece given an exhibition number. Originals and limited edition prints are both accepted.

Organiser Carolyn Squire, herself an artist, said: “While there is not a limit to the number each artist submits it will depend on how many are brought on the Friday afternoon but we would hope that we are able to accept most that are submitted. There will also be browsers available for unframed pictures.”

The entry fees are kept low, being £1 and 50p for browser pieces. Payments are invited in cash or card on the Friday afternoon, when people bring along their artwork to the village hall.

A commission of 20 per cent is taken on all sales which will go to the Friends of the St Michael’s.

Artists are asked to collect any unsold pictures on the Sunday afternoon between 4pm and 5pm. Bank details can be shared with the organisers on the Sunday for payment for any pictures sold, to be made the following week by bank transfer.
