All the fun of the fayre is coming to Peter Tavy once again this August Bank Holiday Monday.
The village near Tavistock is staging its traditional Village Fayre on the afternoon of Monday, August 31 from 2pm.
The bells of St Peter’s Church will ring out to welcome visitors from far and near.
Everyone is invited to come along to enjoy the games, stalls, refreshments and more, spread around the village hall and methodist chapel in the centre of the village.
There’s fun for all ages – with a chance to test your skill on the coconut shy, skittles and other intriguing games.
You can seek out a bargain at the ‘granny’s attic’, books, plants, homemade cakes and preserves stalls.
There’s also a chance to try your luck on the tombola or the grand raffle, and relax over delicious refreshments.
Once again, there will be a duck race, where everyone is invited to back a plastic duck in a race on the river in the hopes of winning a prize.
The fayre has a country flavour, with demonstrations of sheep shearing, and the chance to admire the skills of the entrants of all ages in the many village fayre competitions.
“The fayre is a great family afternoon out – a slice of traditional village life in which the whole community gets involved,” said a spokesperson. “All funds raised are split between Peter Tavy Village Hall, Church and Chapel.
“Unfortunately, card or phone payment facilities aren’t available, so the organisers urge you to bring along a pocketful of old-fashioned cash!”
There’s free parking – please follow the signs and stewards’ directions to the parking areas.
For sat nav, the postcode for Peter Tavy Village Hall and Chapel is PL19 9NN.
