Well under three-quarters of A&E arrivals at Plymouth Hospitals Trust seen within four hoursCollege principal Wendy Ainsworth said it was with some trepidation that the college held its event finally within the ‘spectacular’ grounds of St Mellion Resort.
‘We were aware that whilst “normality” exists beyond the school gates in as much that masks are not required in public spaces, there are no limits on capacity of people in spaces and there are no lockdown rules in force, we had experienced a small but steady rise in positive cases within the college community,’ she said.
‘We seriously questioned whether it needed to be postponed again. What shaped our decision to go ahead was to put in some additional measures: All attendees were asked to complete a lateral flow device test on the day and to share their result with track and trace and a number of staff and students continued to wear face masks when moving amongst more populated groups.’
Mrs Ainsworth added: ‘It was a magnificent event. A prom is such a significant right of passage for all schoolchildren and following two years of interrupted education, the loss of examinations and social isolations endured, they truly deserved recognition for their feats.’
