‘The war has been going on for over six months, and conditions are only getting worse’, said Darren Tait, who leads the group.
‘Fortunately, the generosity of local people seems to know no bounds, and they continue to give the life-preserving supplies that are needed so badly.’
It is a 2,500 mile round trip to Warsaw where the goods are offloaded and then put onto vehicles to be distributed in Ukraine to the areas that need it most.
This will be the sixth convoy. It will take the total number of vans that have made the trip to more than 70. Together they have delivered well over 100 tonnes of aid.
‘The drivers pay for their own accommodation and expenses, and some pay for their own fuel’, said Laura Flavin who has driven alongside Darren on every trip.
‘We rely on donations to pay for the ferry crossings. If you want to support us by donating items, there are drop-off points all over Cornwall and Devon. Or if you wish to contribute towards the cost of trips, you can do so via GoFundMe.’
A list of the items that have been requested from communities and hospitals in Ukraine is available on the website along with a map of drop-off points, and ways to provide financial support.
