THE wonder of the nativity will once again be on display at a special event in Horrabridge in the run up to Christmas.
People in the community are busy creating their nativity scenes for display at St Mark’s Church. The Horrabridge Festival of Nativity Scenes is held in St John’s Church, Horrabridge over the first three weekends of December and the Tuesday and Thursday of the first week – so on December 4, 5, 7, 9, 11, 12, 18 and 19 – when the church will be open from 10.30am – 4.30pm. There will be crafts for the children, at no charge, from 3pm - 4.40pm on the Tuesday and Thursday, December 4 and 5. Entry is by donation and proceeds will go towards the church’s ‘More than an Umbrella’ project to raise funds to renovate the church roof.
Festival spokesperson Hilary Prout said: ‘Once again the organisers of the Horrabridge Festival of Nativity Scenes are gearing up for this annual event. We await to see what eye-catching creations will be produced and we are continually amazed by the ingenuity and creativity of those making the displays. Do come along and see them. Last year we were unable to provide refreshments, but this year we are hoping to do this, so that you will be able to sit and have a cup of coffee and a piece of cake while surrounded by the exhibits and listening to carols in the background, or perhaps an organist playing the organ.’
