Money from criminal activity is being distributed between voluntary organisations and charities across Cornwall in a bid to support communities in preventing anti-social behaviour.

The funds will be available from The Police Property Act Fund that is made up of the proceeds from selling property that has been seized by the police. Over £40,000 is available and the money will be managed by Cornwall Community Foundation.

Alison Hernandez the Police and Crime Commissioner for Devon and Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly said: 'I am delighted that the Cornwall Community Foundation will be distributing funding to support communities in Cornwall in preventing anti-social behaviour as a consequence of the use of illegal drugs. People are sick and tired of witnessing antisocial behaviour and drug abuse which are two of my four policing priorities, along with road safety and serious violence reduction.

'The funding for these grants has been made available by my office which comes through the proceeds of property sold which has been seized as part of police operations through The Police Property Act Fund.

'It is great to see that money generated from preventing criminal activity is being recycled back into our towns and villages to prevent harm and improve community safety and wellbeing.'
