Albaston Fete committee met recently to make its final donations following the winding up the group after 35 years. The beneficiaries were Callington Memory Café (£300), Harrowbarrow School (£350), Albaston Ukulele Group (£300) and Gunnislake Amateur Dramatics Group (GLAD) (£350) — all excellent causes that the committee were pleased to support. The cheque was presented to GLAD chair Lesley Smith at the final performance of their Christmas Murder Mystery. It is very much hoped that the fete will be revived in some form in the future and committee members look forward to seeing it being bigger and better than ever. The committee was disbanded after an unsuccessful appeal to get new members last year.
