The Tavistock Group of Friends of Children’s Hospice South West was delighted to welcome Tavistock mayor Cllr Andy Hutton and the mayoress, Sue Hutton, to its annual Big Cream Tea event at Whitchurch Community Hall recently.

Despite missing a year due to Covid restrictions, the young people from the Old School Children?s Centre were in fine voice entertaining with an array of songs and encouraging the audience to join in whilst Tim Hampson played the harp throughout the afternoon.

The challenge for the hospice in helping housebound families with life limited children during the height of the pandemic was met by staff providing personalised home care — giving parents and siblings the opportunity for a break — plus lots of fun and games via Zoom catch ups.

The £480 raised at the cream tea will go a long way in helping the Children?s Hospice South West continue its work
