BERE Alston Spring Flower Show was a virtual show held with committee members emailing photos of their prized daffodils from home.

Lynn Winn won the RHS Banksian medal 2020 with the spectacular daffodils chosen by her late husband Ivor Paull, and carefully nurtured by Lynn with rabbit manure!

The award is named after the botanist Sir Joseph Banks (1743 to 1820) who accompanied Cook round the world on HMS Endeavour, named Botany Bay and first observed a kangeroo.

In 2021, on what would have been the day of the show, Margaret Willmott organised a lovely display of daffodils, tulips, polyanthus and even rhubarb on the steps of the church hall.

This was really admired by all who took their permitted exercise past it —so she was awarded the 2021 Banksian medal.

The next spring show is scheduled covid-permitting for Saturday, March 26 2022 in the Church Hall, Bere Ferrers.
